Primary Education of Dr. Satyen

Dr. Satyen never went to school before he reached Pilibhit in 1969 because three of his uncles were teachers and his father was a Medical Science students and he being as a pampered child’s he managed not go to school rather studied little bit at village from all elders through stories or conversations etc. in a playful manner rather going for a formal teaching. So, it was very difficult to get admission in class VI and that too in a good school named Dramond Govt. Inter College, Pilibhit where entrance examination was also taken before admission and documents of class Vth and transfer certificate after passing the school were also required. So,due to my father’s public relations being a Doctor who was helping every one, I was admitted in a school called Inayat Ganj No.1 at Station Road which was almost 100 meters from my house where we were living at Pilibhit. So, I was admitted directly in class Vth and after completing Vth, I appeared in class with entrance and I was admitted after clearing the entrance examination. Since, Dr. Satyen’s formal education was not so done, so one of his father’s close friend Mr. Khem Nath Goswami gave him tuition for six months and this is how Dr. Satyen’s educational empowerment started. Dr. Satyen scored 132 marks out of 150 marks examination, which was conducted by Board (during those days the Schools were also managed by Board at class 5th, 8th, 10th and 12th). I had memorable stay at this school where I was carrying a small mat for my sitting in class room at school along with my books etc. and the fee used to be Rs. 0.03 and I recall two major incidents of my school. One, when I was admitted and another when I was leaving. When I was admitted, the next very day my Head Master Mr. Tota Ram asked me one question “AKKAL BADI KI BHAISH”(WHICH IS BIGGER OUT OF BUFFALO AND WISDOM). Since, I knew buffaloes well during my stay at villages, so instantly I said, ”buffalo” and as a instant reaction, our Head Master slapped affectionately but I did not see affection in it and reacted by throwing my ink-pot which hit his head and it started bleeding and I ran away from there and after that I had faced the consequences i.e. first and last beetling by my father’s I remember. And the second was when I went to take my result card. My Head Master asked me to bring some sweets. So, I came home and took money from home and took One kg Jalebi and gave to my Head Master. He was happy and blessed me but while giving me my report card, he appreciated because I had got the first position in Pilibhit District and he showed me his scar on his forehead which was a result of my hitting him with my ink pot. I felt ashamed and apologised once again by saying that I was ignorant as I was living in village. Anyway, he blessed me but when ever he to met me he always showed that scar (He also had a dry cleaning shops and he used to sit there and hence I was encountering with him once in a while).
